Thimphu-Paro Highway Plantation

Along the stretch of 45 Kilometers of Thimphu-Paro highway, avenue plantation was conducted with the fund from Tourism Council of Bhutan. The plantation program was mainly initiated to engage laid off people working under the tourism industry during the pandemic. A total of 50 people including tourist guide, drivers and hotel staffs were engaged for two months during the avenue plantation.

The highway plantation was inaugurated by His Excellency the Prime Minister and other cabinet member on 4th June 2020 coinciding with the birth anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen by planting 30 numbers of trees to commemorate Her Majesty’s birthday. the Members of the Parliament also participated and planted tress along the highway on the same day.

Since the national highway along Thimphu-Paro is a significant road network along which VVIPs, diplomats and tourists commute daily, the avenue plantation is promoted to give a vivid concept of our beloved Monarchs’ vision of keeping Bhutan clean and green. Atotal of 1433 numbers of mixed ornamental species were planted along the highway.
